Teaching your dog to come to you when you call it’s name is a recommended command that could potentially one day save it’s life should it run off into potential danger.
Start by offering your dog a treat so his interest is focused on you and use a command such as “Come Here” or your dog’s name.
Once he’s interested walk away and call him using the same command from across the room and reward when he does so. There’s a chance he’ll follow you, so you might have to use the ‘Stay’ command and if he already knows it he should be more receptive to coming when called anyway.
After several successful tries, try to call him from other room in the house and offer big praise when he comes to you.
Once the training session has ended, practice the command later on in the day when his interests are elsewhere. When he comes to you, give him a reward and a lot of praise.
